We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our engineering team as a Senior Analog Design Engineer, initially for four months, but with the possibility to extend the contract.

Core Job Functions:

The role will be for a CMOS circuit designer with an interest in a variety of high performance Analog Mixed  signal blocks such as  ADC, Sigma  delta Modulator, Bandgap, LDO , Temp sensor (PTAT) , VCOs, PLLs, ADCs, LNA, Xtal, RCosc and power management blocks. You will focus on delivering highly competitive Analog blocks with leading edge performance using innovative architectures and circuit implementations. You will have an excellent understanding of Analog and CMOS circuit design and of Analog IC layout in deep sub-micron CMOS technology and will provide direction and supervision for layout implementation.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • M.tech/M.E or equivalent in Electronic Engineering,
  • Strong commercial experience in CMOS Design
  • 10+ year’s experience of designing high performance analog circuits in deep submicron CMOS technology
  • You will be a strong team player, able to operate as both an innovator and an implementer
  • You will participate in multi-site developments across different time zones and cultures requiring excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with the Cadence ADE , ADEXL, Explorer, Schematic editor and ocean scripting – mandatory

Desirable Skills and Experience: 

  • A strong analytical approach is desired with a clear track record of success and delivery
  • Experience with advanced circuit simulation tools and EM simulation tools is a benefit

Customer Operations Manager

Summary:

We are looking for an experienced technology, EDA or semiconductor operations executive to lead the engagement implementation and customer project process for the company. This includes management of a rapidly growing team in the UK, Europe and India, budget and capacity planning and modelling. Close interface with Finance, Sales and Marketing, and Development Engineering and management of day- to-day operational interface with customers.

The role requires establishment of manufacturing management operational processes including close monitoring and continuous improvement of business performance as it relates to profitability, quality, productivity, on-time delivery, cost controls, people development and culture.

Core job functions:

  • Create a strong accountability, performance-based culture in the Customer Operations team, currently numbering 20 but expected to grow to 50+ within 18 months.
  • Responsible for meeting and exceeding targets as they relate to on-time and on-budget customer delivery, quality and profitability.
  • Responsible for the budget planning and management process to include, resource, capital, and expense management.
  • Establish, install and manage necessary processes and systems to facilitate effective planning and resource deployment as well as future growth needs.
  • Identify and recruit payroll and contract engineering resource and support staff in line with business growth needs.
  • Continuously work on maximising the efficiency of:
    • Resource usage/deployment
    • Cost
  • Define plan for resourcing each customer engagement.

Key skills and experience:

  • BSc or MSc or equivalent in Electronic Engineering.
  • Strong commercial and operational experience in the semiconductor industry.
  • Adequate knowledge of Semiconductor IC process.
  • Proven Customer facing experience.
  • Progressive, flexible, and team oriented; possess results-based style and skill set with strong influencing skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, to direct and motivate team members and others at all levels of the organisation, maintaining a persuasive and credible presentation style.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously, planning and scheduling work and activities to routinely meet cost and schedule parameters
  • Must be able to work closely with Finance, Sales, Marketing and Engineering to support the overall growth objectives of the company, management team and investors.

  • A strong communicator capable of presenting ideas, selling new concepts and tactics, listening to contrary opinions, and driving a strategy into an organisation.

Location:

  • Thalia is a venture capital funded business headquartered in Newport, Wales. We have offices in Newport, Swindon (UK), Hyderabad (India) and soon in Cologne (Germany).
  • The Operations Management role will be based in the UK and require significant presence in the Newport and Swindon offices. It will also require some travel to customers and India.
  • The ideal candidate would be based in the South West UK for ease of access to primary offices. Travel from further afield, regular commute or some level of home working would be acceptable.

Role:

  • For the right candidate a full-time payroll-based role would be available.
  • Alternatively, an initial contract or part-time contract engagement could be supported, moving to full-time and payroll over time as desired by the applicant.

Senior Sales Executive/Manager/Director

We are seeking a further highly motivated individual to join our sales team. As a Senior Sales Executive you will be managing a growing business within several medium and large high visibility clients and driving yearly revenue targets and long-term revenue opportunities.

Key accountabilities – you will:

  • Effectively prospect the territory to uncover and identify companies that have a potential need for Thalia’s product offerings.
  • Leverage existing contacts and develop new ones at all levels in target companies to progress qualification, generate meetings and drive to engagement.
  • Qualify potential accounts by understanding customer needs, requirements and buying process. Uncover customer desired objectives, the obstacles to their success and ways Thalia solutions can enhance their business.
  • Work in tandem with Thalia’s management team – CEO and CTO and drive customer engagement strategy to fit with established customer needs.
  • Identify key customer projects and decision makers. Engage and interact with customers at necessary levels to understand customer infrastructure, hierarchy and decision making.
  • Understand clearly Thalia’s strategy, offerings and value proposition. Work with Thalia team to understand the usage model of the solutions offered.
  • Formulate a Thalia solution to meet each customer requirements. Propose and present a set of capabilities that address customer’s needs. The key is being adaptive and not being prescriptive, each customer need is unique.
  •  Negotiate and close a win/win transaction. Work closely with customers to reach mutually beneficial agreement.
  • Facilitate delivery and deployment of the solution to customer satisfaction. Collaborate with Thalia field and factory technical team and customer staff to drive adoption.
  • Take active part alongside company management, in supporting and driving definition and implementation of marcom activity through engaged external agency to help build Thalia’s worldwide market visibility.
  • Participate as needed in strategic and business planning activity including overall medium and long-term budget definition.
  • Support and drive marketing activity by inputting experience of customer needs to help understand market structure, segmentation and support better identification of potential new customers.

Key success criteria:

  • Deliver customer meetings and discussions – leading to real and qualified customer opportunity.
  • Meet or exceed agreed sales and revenue targets.
  • Ensure clear and consistent message is delivered by all the team involved in your customer interface.
  • Define, manage and implement an account plan for each customer that generates target revenues.
  • Establish a pipeline adequate to meet agreed personal, team and company revenue goals. Ensure the right balance of short-term opportunities alongside relationship-based repeat strategic opportunities.

Key skills and experience:

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

  • BSc or MSc or equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or related subject.
  • Proven commercial sales experience in two or more of the following areas: Semiconductor / IP / EDA / CAE / CAD / High value consulting services.
  • Extensive experience of selling into all levels of European semiconductor, fabless and IP industries. Similar North American and / or Asian semiconductor experience would be a bonus.
  • Sales experience with some combination of the following areas: EDA design flow, simulation, analog mixed-signal, physical verification including extraction, DFM, analog design methodology.
  • Ability to develop customer relationships at management level.
  • Ability to structure, close and manage delivery of complex deals.
  • Ability to lead and motivate small, cross functional, multi-national teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Good organisational skills, self-driven and proactive.
  • A clear track record of success and delivery.

The role, location and travel

  • The role will require a minimum of 3 days commitment per week with Thalia, up to full time. The engagement can be configured as contract or payroll.
  • The successful candidate can be based at any one of Thalia’s current offices or be home office-based. In all situations travel to support internal and management meetings will be necessary.
  • In addition, being a sales role, extensive travel to customer meetings and trade shows will be necessary. The successful candidate should plan to travel > 40% of the time.

Principal EDA Engineer

   

Flexible locations in Europe or India

We are looking for an experienced EDA Engineer to become a member of our world-class analog design team in providing high performance analog and mixed mode circuits in the area of Cellular/Mobile and Power management applications.

Core Job Functions

  • You will define and develop design framework and proprietary methodology for efficient analog IP reuse and analysis
  • You will be developing interfaces, software and utilities within the Cadence framework by leveraging Cadence SKILL®, Perl and other scripting languages
  • You will be designing and developing automation software and utilities targeting IP layout and circuit design
  • You will be actively involved in the development of Thalia proprietary Amalia™ migration software addressing analog IP reuse
  • You will be supporting customer engagements, debugging, installation and qualification of Thalia’s software on customer’s machines
  • Support of Linux system infrastructure including hardware, operating systems and services.
  • Document own work and participate in design reviews
  • Provide guidance to junior team members

Key Skills and Experience

  • BSc or MSc or equivalent in Electronic Engineering,
  • Strong commercial experience in IC Design methodology
  • Customer facing experience
  • Experience in designing and developing tools, software and utilities within the Cadence Virtuoso environment
  • An excellent understanding of Analog IC layout in deep sub-micron CMOS technology.
  • Experience of design methodology and toolsets required for analog and RF circuit design and IC layout.
  • You will be a strong team player, able to operate as both an innovator and an implementer
  • You will participate in multi-site developments across different time zones and cultures requiring excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be experienced in the Cadence design flow including Virtuoso, analog design environment and industry standard simulators
  • Must have a proven track record of developing software and utilities using Cadence SKILL® and Perl and other programming and scripting languages
